Red Cross responds
The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team from the Chautauqua County Chapter moved into action early Saturday to provide disaster relief assistance to help victims of a fire on Maple Avenue in Dunkirk. DAT volunteers, Marguerite Dillon and Sandy Warren-Henderson of Dunkirk, responded to assist an adult and one child with immediate emergency needs.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is a gift and is made possible through contributions. The United Ways of Northern and Southern Chautauqua county provide financial support to the chapter's local disaster relief program.
Plaza construction
The Family Video Movie Club is under construction at the D & F Plaza's Central Avenue side. The new building will be on the site of the former Four Seasons Restaurant.
Conservation of water urged in Portland and Broicton
Mayor J Dale Abram has requested a volunteer conservation of water due to an unforseen incident at the Brocton Water Treatment Plant. The water meets all standards of the Health Department and is not a concern. The quantity of water produced must be limited until further notice.
Sheridan Board of Fire Commissioners meets Wednesday evening
The Sheridan Board of Fire Commissioners will hold a meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Sheridan Fire Hall in which they will award a project to pave the fire hall parking lot and approve bid specs for a new fire truck.
