The Chautauqua County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its third annual Ride for the Red Fundraiser on Saturday.
Last year, more than $6,000 was raised by participants and sponsors. Event sponsors include Wegman's, Jamestown Area Medical Associates (JAMA), Farm Fresh Foods, Lake Shore Savings and Acu-Rite. Food and water stations will be set up along the route, which starts at SUNY Fredonia and goes along the lakeshore, with some routes traveling through Dunkirk, Fredonia, Brocton, Westfield and Ripley.
Judy Langworthy, Red Cross Board member and event organizer, hopes to build on the participation this year.
Special thanks go out to SUNY Fredonia, Dunkirk Police Department, Dunkirk Fire Police, Fredonia Police Dept. and the SUNY Campus Police.
The American Red Cross relies on the generous donations of the community in order to provide disaster relief, military family services, CPR and First Aid training and support to the Red Cross Blood services.
