Grace L. Speziale, 87, of 150 Prospect St., Fredonia died Monday (June 15, 2009) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 5, 1922 to the late James and

Lucy (Vilardo) St. George, who resided in Fredonia, NY.

Grace was a member of St. Anthony's Church Altar and Rosary Society, St.

Lucy's Society, the Tuesday Night Rosary Group, the Divine Will Prayer Group, and the Women of the Moose in Dunkirk. She was

also responsible for the Catholic station, EWTN, becoming available in Fredonia.

Being a very devout person, she had a deep love for God. Her family was the most important aspect of her life. She loved and fed anyone who stopped at her doorstep. Besides being a retired professional cook, Grace immensely enjoyed cooking and canning too.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita (Robert) Farnham and Annette (Howard Buck) Sysol of Fredonia, NY. Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Julie

(Eric) Valentine of Lockport, NY, Kimberly Sysol of Fredonia, James Farnham of Findley, OH, Lynn (Phil, MD) Lauria of Orchard Park, NY, Brad (Kara) Sysol of Kalamazoo, MI and Jeffrey Farnham of

New Zealand. Grace had 10 great grandchildren who adored her: Corey, Philip, Alexandra, Julia, Morgan, Matthew, Katelyn, Brandon, Lauren and Benjamin.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers Cosmo, Larry and Sam R. St. George as well as three sisters, Angela Latona, Jennie Pagano and Rose St. George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia, NY, the Rev. C.J. Westfield, pastor, and Fr. Daniel Walsh, officiating.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, on Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Grace's memory be

made to St. Columban's on the Lake, 2546 Lake Road in Silver Creek, NY 14136 or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
