PORTLAND - Laura L. Haas, 45, of Dunkirk was charged Wednesday with driving while intoxicated. Deputies said she was stopped on Route 5 in the Town of Portland for crossing over the road's fog line.
The investigation led to the DWI charge. Haas also was charged with having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more, refusing to submit to a prescreening test and moving from a lane unsafely.
These charges are to be answered in Portland Town Court.
HANOVER - Randy L. Hilliker, 31, of Jackson Street, Hanover was charged Thursday with petit larceny for allegedly stealing money from the desk of another Jackson Street resident.
Hilliker is to answer the charge in Hanover Town Court.
MAYVILLE - Charges are pending from a two-vehicle accident Thursday at the intersection of Morris and Valley Streets in Mayville.
Deputies said Barbara A. Schutt, 66, of Ashville stopped at the stop sign on Valley Street before proceeding into the intersection where she was hit by a vehicle operated by David H. Preston, 55, of Mayville.
Mayville Fire Department personnel had to extricate Schutt from her vehicle and she was transported to Westfield Hospital for treatment of what was described as apparent minor injuries.
Preston refused treatment at the scene.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
RIPLEY - Jay A. Post, 30, of Northeast, Pa. turned himself in on a warrant issued for his arrest on a felony driving while intoxicated charge. He was featured on the Chautauqua County Wanted Persons list.
He was taken into custody and was jailed to await his appearance in Chautauqua County Court.
