Rose M. Meyer, 75, of Dunkirk died Thursday evening (July 2, 2009) at home.
She was born Feb. 9, 1934 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Bernice (Gdula) Kulpa.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, she was a parishioner of St. Hyacinth's Church.
Rose had been employed at Fredonia State College University where she was an advocate for women's equality.
Survivors include four daughters, Robin (Richard) Dieffenbacher of Avon, Lauren (Robert) Kozlowski of Dunkirk, Janice (Patrick) Lynch of Hilton, and Mary Sue (Osvardo) Rivera of Bradenton, Fla.; two sons, Michael Meyer of Suncook, N.H. and James (Brenda) Meyer of Dunkirk; one sister, Theresa (Robert) Symans of Dunkirk; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Meyer; one son, Jeffrey Meyer; one daughter, Kathleen M. Meyer; step mother, Lucille Kulpa; and two sisters, Dolores Douglas and Claudia Douglas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or a charity of one's choice.
