Delores L Tuning

July 25, 2009
The OBSERVER

Delores L. Tuning passed away on July 21, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO. We loved her dearly, and referred to her by a variety of names. To many of us she

was Mom, Delores, Lonnie, Grandma, and most affectionately, Gramma Wheelchair.

Mom was born in Hornell, N.Y. on September 9, 1934 to Royce and Mae Lonsberry. She married young, had five children, and obtained her degree as a registered nurse. She worked full time as a nurse for 38 years, most of those years at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y.

She can be remembered as a caring nurse, who often used a brash and direct style to advocate for her patients.

Delores is survived by her five children: Mary and her husband, Bill Stockmeyer, of Portland, ME; Robert, of Hamburg, NY; Pat, and her husband, Doug Greenberg, of Colorado Springs, CO; Maureen of Cullowhee, NC, and Pete, of Colorado Springs, CO.

Thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive her, as well as her brother, Keith. Her parents, four brothers, a sister, and two granddaughters predeceased her.

Memorial services will be held August l at 11:00 am at Laona United Methodist Church in Fredonia, NY.

It was a road with many mountains to climb, Mom.

We love you.
