Respiratory protection safety
and health roundtable
The Chamber of Commerce and Manufacturers Association is conducting its second in the series of "Safety and Health Roundtables" on Wednesday, Aug. 5, entitled Respiratory Protection - Indoor Air Quality, Air Contaminants and Mold.
Respiratory protection hazards are addressed in specific standards for the general industry, shipyard employment, marine terminals, longshoring, and the construction industry. An estimated 5 million workers are required to wear respirators in 1.3 million workplaces throughout the United States. Respirators protect workers against insufficient oxygen environments, harmful dusts, fogs, smokes, mists, gases, vapors, and sprays. Compliance with the OSHA standards could avert hundreds of deaths and thousands of illnesses annually. Attend this Safety and Health Roundtable presented by OSHA and reduce costs by increasing safety in the workplace.
The roundtable will be held at the Manufacturing Technology Institute (MTI), Jamestown. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. and program to follow at noon. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
To register for the event call 484-1101 or 366-6200 or visit www.chautauquachamber.org.
Carl Cappa memorial Golf Tournament August 10
The Carl Cappa Memorial Classic is held annually at Moon Brook Country Club in Jamestown. It is Chautauqua County's premier golf fund raising event benefiting TRC Foundation. All monies generated go into the endowment fund of the foundation and are used to assist people with disabilities to access supports and services they require to live full and productive lives and be contributing members of the community.
The Cappa Classic is named to honor a legend within the Chautauqua region, Mr. Carl Cappa, former president and owner of Crawford Furniture Manufacturing Co. of Jamestown. Carl's leadership and vision, to hold a golf fund raiser to help those less fortunate within our community, is carried on by the Cappa Family, including Mike Cappa, Carl's son. Carl's vision was to get friends and associates together, playing a game they all love, and raise money for those individuals who needed the support. It was Carl's passion that made this event a success.
Through the 13 years since this event began, over $1 million in net proceeds has been added to the TRC Foundation's endowment fund. The community and business support for the cause, and also to honor its founder, has been nothing less than spectacular. The Board of Directors for TRC Foundation thanks everyone over the years who have participated and invites new sponsors to participate in a one of a kind event.
