MAYVILLE - The Chautauqua County Board of Elections announces its current schedule of demonstrations for the new paper ballot optical scan voting machine that all voters will be using for the Sept 15 primary elections and Nov. 3 general elections.
The new voting machine will be demonstrated at the Pomfret Town Hall in Fredonia today from noon until 8 p.m.
Voters will find that voting on the new machine "Easy as 1-2-3":
1. After signing in, the voter will be given a scannable paper ballot to take to a private voting booth.
2. The voter will fill in the space to the right of the candidate's name of their choice for election.
3. Once the marking is complete, the voter will return to the voting machine to have their ballot scanned into the voting machine.
Additionally, the Board of Elections is currently visiting every Office for the Aging senior citizen luncheon site in the county to offer voters the opportunity to cast a test ballot.
The schedule for voting machine demonstrations is:
Pomfret Town Hall - Today noon to 8 p.m.
Westfield YWCA - Today 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Sinclairville Fire Hall - Wednesday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Steger Apartments, Dunkirk - Thursday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jamestown Airport Air Show - Thursday through Sunday
Fredonia Farm Festival - Friday through Sunday
Fredonia Grape Belt Seniors St Anthony's Church - Aug. 31 9 to 11:30 a.m.
The Board of Elections is aggressively reaching out to the community to do demonstrations between now and the Nov. 3 general election.
