Two Dunkirk men face drug charges

  • A six-month investigation into the sale and distribution of crack cocaine in Dunkirk and the surrounding area resulted in the arrest Thursday of two Dunkirk men.

Arthur Brown, 32, and Angelo Echaervaria, (also spelled Echavaria in the arrest report) 43, both of Columbus Avenue, were charged with third-degree criminal sale and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

A warrant obtained by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force to arrest the defendants and search their home was executed by the Chautauqua County Sheriff Department's SWAT team.

It is alleged the pair sold crack to police agents on a number of occasions from their residence. In addition to the warrant charges, both were also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The defendants were committed to Chautauqua County Jail and additional arrests are expected to be made.

Jamestown woman faces cocaine charge

  • JAMESTOWN - Artelia Terry, 30, of West Fourteenth Street, Jamestown, was charged Friday with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance identified as crack cocaine.

Her arrest came as the result of a two-month investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force into crack cocaine trafficking in Jamestown.

Terry was being held in Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

Additional arrests are expected to be made.

Human remains found in South Valley

  • On Saturday, at approximately 4 p.m., human skeletal remains were found on the shoreline of the Allegany Reservoir in the town of South Valley within the Seneca Nation Territory, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department. The investigation of these remains, and the identity of this person, will continue by the sheriff's office as well as a postmortem examination.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office

  • Timothy S. Coughlin, 42, of Forestville, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated and having .08 percent or more blood alcohol content.

Deputies said he was stopped for speeding on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret and the investigation led to the DWI charges.

The charges are to be answered in Pomfret Town Court.

Silver Creek Village Police

  • Crystal A. Perry, 51, of Main Street, was charged on Sept. 18 with disorderly conduct. She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Silver Creek Village Court on Oct. 14.
  • Christopher D. Page, 35, of Main Street, was charged on Sept. 18 with open container. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Silver Creek Village Court on Oct. 14.
  • David F. Urban, 28, of Lackawanna, was charged on Sept. 19 with open container.

He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Silver Creek Village Court on Oct. 14.
