Scudder seeks District 24 seat

POSTED: October 10, 2009

Fredonia Hardware owner Bob Scudder, of 348 West Main, Fredonia, has announced his candidacy for the office of Chautauqua County Legislator District 24. Scudder has the endorsement of the Republican, Independence, and Conservative parties.

"The people of District 24 need better representation in Mayville, and that's what I plan to do. I'm accessible and willing to serve," he said. "I believe in cost efficient government. I will work towards lowering taxes, maintaining county services, and reducing the size of government."

Scudder has lived in Fredonia for 23 years with his wife Laurie, daughters Erin and Ashley, and son Kyle. A graduate of Kenmore East High School and Alfred State College, Scudder also owned and operated West Valley Hardware in West Valley, NY, for nine years before moving to Fredonia. The purchase of Fredonia Hardware brought Scudder and his family to Chautauqua County.

"Moving to Fredonia was one of the best decisions we ever made! I feel blessed to be a part of this community. The people are great and business has been good. I look forward to serving the community as a legislator the same way I have served them at the Hardware Store. It's all about service," he said.

Scudder has served on the board of the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce, coached Fredonia Little League baseball, was a member of Fredonia Rotary Club, and is a Trustee at Christ Community Church in Fredonia. In addition to owning Fredonia Hardware, Scudder is also a partner with Pro Home Repair, and is establishing a two acre blueberry farm at his residence.
