Golf club, vehicles used as weapons
Two men were charged Oct. 13 on several counts following a reported fight that involved a golf club and vehicles.
Westfield Police were called to the entrance of Ottaway Park for a vehicle that was stuck in a ditch. Upon arrival and speaking to witnesses, it was found that an altercation had reportedly taken place between Andrew Sanders, 23, of 8254 Third St., Westfield and Shane Sanders, 19, of 101 Central Ave., Brocton. Both had allegedly stopped at the entrance to the park and engaged in a fight with each other.
While fighting, Andrew Sanders reportedly struck Shane Sanders on the leg with a golf club and returned to his vehicle for several attempts to run Shane Sanders over. Shane allegedly broke the driver side window of Andrew's vehicle during this time. Shane then returned to his vehicle, which Andrew allegedly attempted to strike with his own, causing Shane to drive into the ditch.
Andrew Sanders was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree assault. He was arraigned in Westfield Town Court and transported to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail. Shane Sanders was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and was released on his own recognizance. Both were scheduled to reappear in Westfield Town Court.
