Chautauqua Leadership Network announces 2009 Leader of the Year Award recipient
Michael P. Sullivan, Director of Institution Relations and Public Affairs at Chautauqua Institution, is the recipient of Chautauqua Leadership Network's 2009 Leader of the Year Award.
"Mike is exemplary in that he not only gives of his time and resources, but he does it with excellence," said CLN Director Pene Hutton. "He is much respected by both his colleagues and the many other community volunteer leaders who follow his advice and seek his opinion."
"Mike sets an incredible standard for all community leaders to emulate," Hutton added.
At Chautauqua Institution since 1998, Sullivan is responsible for all marketing, public relations, ticketing, sales and communication activities. He previously worked as director of public relations and marketing at Highland Hospital in Rochester. As a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Sullivan earned his APR (Accredited in Public Relations) and served as president of the Rochester Chapter of Delegates to the PRSA National Assembly.
Since moving to Chautauqua County from Rochester, Sullivan has served and continues to serve on the boards of WCA Hospital (secretary 2008-present), the Holy Family Catholic School, Jamestown Chamber of Commerce (president 2000-2003), Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation (president 2006-2007), Chautauqua County Visitor's Bureau (president 2004-2006) and the City of Jamestown Strategic Planning Committee. He is also a performer with the Jamestown comedy improv troupe The Unexpected Guests and plays in the Jamestown Adult Hockey League.
"I am pleased and honored to receive this prestigious award because it reflects the support and accomplishments of the people who work with me at Chautauqua Institution and the other organizations I have served," Sullivan said.
Sullivan will be honored for his professional accomplishments that have benefited Chautauqua County and his many contributions to community service at Chautauqua Leadership Network's 2009 Leadership Award Dinner at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Athenaeum Hotel on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. The special dinner presentation will be preceded by a cocktail reception at 6 p.m.
The public is encouraged to join CLN in honoring Sullivan. Reservations may be made by calling Pene Hutton, CLN director, at 338-1555. The cost of the dinner is $50 per person. Reservations must be received by Oct. 30.
Chautauqua Leadership Network is a not-for-profit organization designed to identify, recruit, train and network area professionals.
