Ken Martin seeks re-election as Town of Collins Supervisor

Endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines, Ken Martin is seeking voters' support to maintain his position as Town of Collins Supervisor.

Martin has held the title since January 2003. Prior to that, he was a councilman for 13 years, during which time he served as the Deputy Supervisor for one year and shared the Deputy Supervisor duties with other council members for four years

Martin's list of accomplishments includes capital improvements in the form of the Town Park Expansion and Improvement Project, the Town Hall Renovation Project, and the Collins Center Water Filtration Project. In order to bring these projects to fruition without burdening taxpayers, Martin and others worked diligently to secure grants totaling approximately $284,000 to cover the expenses. In other cost-cutting efforts, Martin worked to eliminate one highway position and a part-time position at the Community Center. These actions, along with changes in health insurance plans, and additional restructuring resulted in a savings to taxpayers of more than $134,000 annually. Martin also supported efforts to eliminate personal use of town trucks and when deemed necessary, he and the board initiated an investigation into employee misconduct.

Martin is a lifelong resident of the Town of Collins. He owns and operates Martin Plant Farm and is a graduate of Springville-Griffith Institute and Alfred University. His community involvement spans organizations such as the Gowanda Moose, the NYS Farm Bureau, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and the American Association of Nurserymen. He is currently the chairman of the Collins Republican Committee and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Parish.

Martin is committed to continued efforts to strengthen the integrity of town officials and employees.

If re-elected, he plans to use his 20 years of experience with Collins Town Government, combined with his community involvement, proven track record and established working relationship with local, county and state officials to maintain the current level of services to residents in light of current economic times and shrinking revenues.
