Ghouls and goblins will overtake the streets on Saturday afternoon and evening, as trick or treating and Halloween festivities will be held throughout the region.

Area law enforcement officials advise parents and children to be mindful of the designated trick or treat hours and to be careful while seeking treats door-to-door.

"We would ask motorists to use caution - children get very excited about it and they will be darting in and across the roads," Fredonia Police Chief Brad Meyers said. "We ask parents to be aware of what their children are wearing. Keep it to a type of mask that they can see clearly out of."

Meyers recommends that parents always accompany their children while trick or treating.

"Certainly, as always, to check over the candy when it comes home prior to eating any of it," Meyers said.
