Agricultural Business Forum slated for Nov. 21
JAMESTOWN - Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County and Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce will host the first-ever Agricultural Business Forum -"Positioning Your Farm for the Future: What's Next."
The forum will be held on Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the American Legion Post 1280 in Cassadaga. It will feature experts in the areas of planning, transition, health insurance and stress.
Highlighting the program will be a panel of key opinion leaders including Senator Catharine Young, Assemblyman Bill Parment, Farm Bureau President Dean Norton, and a representative from NYS Agriculture & Markets.
It was once said, "Farming is not just a business, it's a way of life." If you talk to anyone involved in agriculture, this is why they continue to be a farmer in a climate of low prices and higher production costs. These are just two of the many issues facing our agricultural industry, and they are looking for ways to reduce costs, maintain quality, and increase profitability. However, being a successful farmer today requires research-based information, technology, educational preparation, and business skills. It's important that every farmer succeeds, no matter how big or small. This forum will bring together industry experts and farmers to actively address these concerns.
The cost for this event is $25 per person, or two for $40. Lunch will be provided. For reservations or more information, please contact Cornell Cooperative Extension: 664-9502, x201 or x202.
