ORCHARD PARK The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies had a strong showing at the Section 6 high school preliminaries Friday at the Flickinger Center.

The 200 medley relay team, consisting of AnnMarie Griffith, Elizabeth Gawronski, Mackenzie Crist and Amanda Wickmark received a 16th seed to compete in today's finals.

Crist was also invited back to the finals in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly where she earned an 11th and ninth seed respectively.

Griffith, meanwhile, qualified for the 50 freestyle with a 22nd seed and the 100 backstroke with a ninth seed.

"That's probably the fastest and most competitive event," Fredonia coach Paul Crist said about the 100 backstroke "If you're going from fourth place down to 13th, it's seperated by a second."

Gawronski will compete in today's 100 breaststroke finals as an 18th seed.

"They did well," Crist said. "I was hoping to come back with three or four individuals and we are coming back with six."

In the diving, Fredonia's Katie Clear placed 15th with a score of 299.05. Meanwhile, Dunkirk's Kayla Kubera finished in 20th place.
