Two resolutions for Dunkirk Common Council to consider

By GIB SNYDER OBSERVER City Editor
POSTED: November 16, 2009

Extending a contract and donating money from the Bill Cease Fund are the subjects of the two pre-filed resolutions facing the Dunkirk Common Council on Tuesday.

Wendy Spinuzza would have her contract to provide assistance in the enforcement of the city's building and zoning codes extended through 2010 under 73-2009. An independent contractor, Spinuzza is paid through Community Development Block Grant funds and under the resolution Mayor Richard Frey is authorized and directed to extend her contract.

Resolution 74-2009 would transfer $500 from the Bill Cease Fund to the general fund so it would be available for donation to the Dunkirk Marauder Steel Drum Band.

According to the resolution, the fund was created to support youth activities in the city and the city currently has the money available.

The only pre-filed communication is from the Dunkirk Marauder Steel Band requesting the donation. The band is raising funds for a concert tour of New York City in May. The band is scheduled to perform at the Lincoln Center and the Statue of Liberty. The letter was signed by all 10 band members and Director Cynthia M. Flaherty.

Council will begin its schedule with a 5:45 p.m. budget review session. The workshop session is set for 6:30 p.m. with the regular meeting scheduled for 7 p.m.
