‘Vote No’ signs stolen
BROCTON - The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of signs from private property in the Brocton community.
These signs are supporting a "no" vote on the proposed merger between Brocton Central School and Fredonia Central School.
Under Sheriff Charles Holder said a report on the missing signs was filed several days ago and the investigation is continuing.
"Anyone who may have information about the signs may call 753-2131. All calls will be confidential," he said.

- HANOVER - Joseph R. Stadler, 64, of Derby was charged Tuesday with driving while intoxicated, having .08 percent or more blood alcohol content, failure to yield the right of way and failure to maintain lane.
Deputies said he was stopped on Route 39 for failure to yield the right of way and failure to maintain lane.
The investigation led to the DWI charges.
He is to answer the charges in Hanover Town Court.
- SINCLAIRVILLE - Anthony J. Mikula, 27, of Cassadaga Road, Cassadaga was ticketed Tuesday with impeding traffic and no slow moving emblem.
Deputies said Mikula was operating a farm tractor towing a hay wagon on Route 60 in the Sinclairville area when a vehicle operated by Darlene Shoup, 55, of Crossman Street, Jamestown rear-ended the tractor and hay wagon.
The hay stacked on the wagon was too high and obscured the wagon's safety lights.
Both operators were injured and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Route 60 was closed for an hour because of the accident.
