BOCES cosmetology class offering clinics for area residents
Seniors in the Cosmetology Program at the Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES LoGuidice Educational Center in Fredonia are offering weekly student-run clinics that extend competitively priced services to area residents and give students the practical experience they will need to become fully licensed cosmetologists upon graduation.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at noon, seniors who have already completed more than a year of study under LoGuidice Cosmetology Instructors Lori Sam and Betty Jo Zmuda will offer their services to the public for a nominal fee. The students will provide a wide range of salon services, such as hair styling, manicures, pedicures and waxing.
The clinics give these students a chance to give back to the community, gain real-life experience and apply the skills they have developed and the knowledge they have learned in the classroom. Upon completion of E2CCB's two-year cosmetology program, which requires 1,000 practicum hours, the students will be prepared for the New York State licensing exam that will enable them to become fully certified and obtain employment immediately or continue their education in the cosmetology arena.
