Janet M. Saletta, 84, of Fredonia died Wednesday (Dec. 2, 2009) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
She was born Sept. 10, 1925 in Silver Creek, the daughter of the late Samuel and Julia (Stevens) Vara.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Saletta will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Beverly (Bill) Leslie of Van Buren Point, Dunkirk, Linda Saletta and Kathy (Charlie) Greene, both of Fredonia, and Bar-bara (Steve) Kosierb of Dunkirk; one son, James Saletta of Fredonia; one sister, Katherine Pizzolanti of Derby; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Saletta, whom she married Nov. 24, 1946 and who died Dec. 17, 2005; one son, Lawrence Saletta; three brothers, Joseph Vara, Horace Vara and Charles Vara; and one sister, Lena McGee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis G. Riter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Chautauqua County
