Lake Shore finishes second, FHS fourth at Maple Grove

BEMUS POINT - West Seneca East won the 13-team Maple Grove Kick-Off Classic, held this weekend at Maple Grove High School. West Seneca East finished with 171.5 points and was followed by Lake Shore (146.5), Newfane (131.5), Fredonia (125.5), Pine Valley (111), Panama (105), East Aurora (103.5), Barker (93.5), Maple Grove (90), Silver Creek (87.5), Cassadaga Valley (69), Cattaraugus-Little Valley (56.5) and Westfield (55).

Lake Shore's Pat Mix took first in the 135-pound class, going 3-0 while teammate Marc Muscarella (2-1) finished second at 130, John Inglut (3-1) third at 112, Matt Valleire (5-1) third at 160, Mike Kukoleca (4-2) fourth at 145 and Ralf Sanjuro (3-2) fourth at 215.

Julian Sams (152) and Greg Burroughs (171) each finished 3-0, taking first-place finishes while teammate Tyler Buckley (4-1) finished third at 145. Also for the Hillbillies, Vinny Scienza (2-1) took second at 189, Rob Weatherlow (2-1) second at 285 and Chad Mason (4-2) fourth at 160.

Silver Creek's Trevor Crawford (189) and Frank Sterlace (145) finished first for the Black Knights while teammate Ryan Karmazyn (4-1) took third-place at 171 and Steven Hansen third-place at 285.

Kris Schimek took first place for Pine Valley at 160-pounds, earning the Panthers their only first-place finish of the tournament while Kyle Reynolds took second at 145. Also for Pine Valley, John Schimek took third at 125, Zach Hillebert third at 152, Codi Hammond fourth at 189 and Nick Sandy fourth at 119.

Steve Seibert (2-1) took second at 96-pounds for Cassadaga Valley while teammate Derek Wise took second at 215 and Brian Blizzard (4-1) third at 135.

Westfield's top finisher was Andrew Lindstrom, who finished second at 119 behind Newfane's David Ciaramella.
