Allegany-Limestone routs DHS, 85-22
OBSERVER Staff ReportsALLEGANY - Dunkirk (2-3, 0-1) was outscored 54-6 in the first half, as they lost their CCAA Division 1 girls' basketball opener to Allegany-Limestone, 85-22, Tuesday.
"We shot the ball really well in the first quarter," Allegany-Limestone head coach Frank Martin said. "We played as good a half as we're going to play. (Osinski's) girls played hard, but I thought we shot the ball well. I give the Dunkirk girls credit, they hung in their and played hard. It was just one of those kinds of games."
The Lady Gators had five girls score in double-figures, led by Lyndsay Stoddard's 18 and Katelin Martin's 17. Samantha Stayer added 14 points in the win while Lauren Saglimben and Rebecca Straub each added 10.
The Lady Marauders were led by Alysha Wilson's eight points.
CCAA Division 3
Pine Valley 62, Hinsdale 20
SOUTH DAYTON - Nikole Lindquist produced a solid all around effort, helping the Pine Valley Lady Panthers (2-0, 4-0) rout the Hinsdale Lady Bobcats 62-20, Tuesday in Division 3 girls' basketball.
Lindquist led all scorers with 15 points while pulling down 10 boards and adding five steals. Karly Swanson scored 11 points, Alex Smith had 10 points and Jillian Brunswick added nine points, six steals and five assists. Allison Nobles tallied seven rebounds and five assists in the win.
The Lady Panthers took a 19 point edge after the first quarter and kept their stride, outscoring the Lady Bobcats by 10, eight and five points in the following three quarters.
Kristin Layman and Taylor Kent each scored eight points in the loss for Hinsdale.
Pine Valley will host Clymer on Friday.
Sherman 65,
North Collins 23
SHERMAN - Sherman (2-0, 2-0) jumped out to a 14-0 lead and coasted to a 65-23 CCAA Division 3 girls' basketball win over North Collins (1-1, 2-1), on Tuesday night.
Alyssa Cole led the Lady Wildcats with 13 points while Amy Sands had 11. Nicole Lindstrom pulled down 11 rebounds and Taryn TeCulver had 10 while Ellen Reed recorded four steals and Kaylyn Zencik had four steals and four assists.
Rhianna Foit led North Collins with seven rebounds and 10 points.
