Edsel G. and Marilyn T. Wise of Strawser Road, Dunkirk celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a quiet dinner, along with calls and visits from family and friends.
The couple exchanged vows on Jan. 7, 1960 while Mr. Wise was on leave from the U.S. Army in Germany.
Mr. Wise served in the U.S. Army from October 1958 to October 1960. He retired from Ralston Purina after previously having worked for J.C. Penney.

A homemaker, Mrs. Wise worked at several local businesses prior to retiring from Wal-Mart.
The couple have three children, Darla J. Wise of Narrows, Va., Gary (Deanna) Wise of Dunkirk and Darla (Kevin) Pawlak of Fredonia; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Wood, Tom and Tiffany Wise of Dunkirk; Nicholas Coker of Narrows; and Ashley Waters, Dannielle and Austin Pawlak of Fredonia.
