Inductees Art Asquith, the late Ray Caldwell, Dave Criscione, Pat Damore and Tara VanDerveer will not be the only athletes honored at the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame's 29th annual induction Banquet on Monday, Feb. 15 at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
In addition, many other outstanding county athletes will be recognized for their accomplishments in 2009. Following are those honorees.
Tara Bailey, Clymer: All-State Class D basketball first team
Kari Barmore, Jamestown Community College: NJCAA women's volleyball All-American
Nat Barone, Jamestown Community College: NJCAA baseball All-American
Kenny Betts, Fredonia: New York State wrestling champion
Levi Bursch, SW: All-State Class C football first team
Ryan Buzzetto, SW: All-State Class C football first team
Jasen Carlson, SW: State Class C football co-player of the year
Tiffany Decker, Busti: NYS?trapshooting champion.
Matt Fox, MG: All-State Class D football first team
Asa Johnson, Frewsburg: All State Class C?Baseball first team.
B.J. Monacelli, Cassadaga Valley: All-State Class C football first team, NYSPHSAA Class C scholar-athlete
Robert Nalepa, Dunkirk: All-State Class B baseball first team
Rachel Ottoway, Sherman: All-State Class D basketball first team
Dan Rosemier, JCC: NJCAA wrestling All-American
Chris Secky, MG: State Class D football player of the year, State Class D basketball co-player of the year
Jay Sirianni, SW: Class C football coach of the year
Zack Sopak, SW: State Class C football co-player of the year
SW football team: New York State Class C champions
The induction dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and a hospitality hour. Dinner will be served at 7 and the program begins at 8 p.m.
Former NFL quarterback Kenny Stabler will be the guest speaker and the emcee will be Dan Palmer.
Tickets are $50 each and are still available at the Jock Shop and the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena in Jamestown, Kwik Fill in Cassadaga, Fredonia Food Mart and Deli in Fredonia or Robo Sunoco in Dunkirk.
