Roberta J. Zielinski, 50, of Fredonia died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Brooks Memorial Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving friends and family until the end.
Roberta was born Aug. 10, 1959 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Ray-mond and Dorothy (Lyons) Zielinski.
A 1977 Dunkirk High School graduate, Roberta then graduated from Melodyland Christian Center in Anaheim, California. Loving her hometown area, she moved back to make her home in Fredonia.
Once active in the D&F Players, Roberta loved to sing and could be heard singing karaoke in past years.
She became a member of the local garden club and made many loving friends who will cherish her memory.
She was an excellent songwriter, seamstress, cook and loving mother and aunt to her beloved sons and many nephews and nieces.
She was fondly remembered by them as "Aunt Berta".
Roberta was a highly talented woman who would accomplish everything she put her mind to, but in her eyes, the most important achievement of her life was raising her two sons, Jon and Nick.
Besides her two sons, Nicholas Perrello and Jonathan Zielinski of Fredonia, she is survived by her brothers, Monte (Barb) Zielinski of Madisonville, Tenn., Gary (Cindy) Zielinski and Jason (Mary Jane) Zielinski of Fredonia, Marlon (Debbie) Zielinski of Cape Coral, Florida and Rueben (Paula) Zielinski of Fishers, Indiana.
She is also survived by her sisters, Flora (John) Foye of Fort Myers, Florida and Robin (Daniel) Carr of Brocton, NY and her many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her sister Leah (Zielinski) Pett.
Burial and memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
