George and Judy Travis

George and Judy Travis of Brocton were married Feb. 27, 1960 at St. Mary's Church in New Baltimore, Mich., by Father Francis Juras. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their children at the Brocton American Legion on Saturday, April 24, along with guests from throughout New York state, New Hampshire, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida and North Carolina. They will renew their vows Saturday at 4 p.m. at St. Dominic's Parish in Brocton, with several members of their wedding party to attend.

George is the son of Harold and Coila Travis of Brocton. Judy is the daughter of Edward and Dorothy McNally of New Baltimore.

George retired as maintenance supervisor from Lake Erie State Park where he was employed for 25 years. He served four years in the Air Force in radar maintenance from 1956 to 1960, with two years spent at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mt. Clemens, Mich.

Judy retired from Chautauqua Opportunities after 25 years, during which time she worked as a home health aide, housekeeper supervisor and the last 10 years as an administrative assistant.

George and Judy have been members of the National Grape Cooperative for more than 50 years and he continues to operate 23 acres of Concord grapes, which once belonged to his grandfather and his father.

The couple's children include David (Marcia) Travis of Brocton; James (MaryJo) Travis of Durham, N.H.; Gary Travis of Brocton; Scott (Colleen) Travis of Jamestown; and Krissy Lacki of Erie, Pa. They have 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
