The Fifth Avenue Church in Rome, Ga., was the setting for the 3:00 p.m double ring ceremony uniting in marriage Miss Alice C. Harper and Mr. Mark D. Suroviec, both of Rome. The nuptials took place on May 22, 2010 with Pastor Mitchell Jolly officiating.
Alice is the daughter of Dr. Gregory and Mrs. Jean Harper of Fredonia, NY. Ms. Linda Fryer of Erie, Pa., and Mr. Gregory Suroviec of Corry, Pa., are the parents of the groom.
Escorted by her father, the bride chose Miss Kate Huff of Rome as her maid of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Mrs. Caitlin Cash and Miss Peggy Mahoney, both of Rome; Miss Michelle Vera Suroviec of Erie, sister of the groom and Mrs. Nancy Harper of North Kansas City, Mo., sister-in-law of the bride. The flower girl was Miss Abby Hankins.

Mr. Nathan Hicks served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Joshua Hornsby, Mr. Gregory Cooper, Mr. Andrew Suroviec of Erie, brother of the groom; and Mr. Donald Harper of North Kansas City, Mo., the bride's brother. The pastor's son, Daniel Jolly of Rome, was the ringbearer.
A reception was held at Magretta Hall in Rome.
Mrs. Suroviec graduated from Fredonia High School, Allegheny College and Virginia Tech, where she earned her Ph.D. in chemistry. She is currently an assistant professor of chemistry at Berry College in Rome.
An alumnus of Union City (Pa.) High School and Penn State Behrend, Mr. Suroviec earned a master of education degree in athletic counseling from Springfield College. He works with outdoor education programs such as BOLD, WinShape and Higher Ground USA.
Following a one-week Royal Caribbean cruise, the couple are at home in Rome.
