DES MOINES, Iowa - A Fredonia native is sitting on top of the world - for now
Jenn (Stuczynski) Suhr, the silver medalist in Beijing, won the women's pole vault at 16 feet, inch, the best jump in the world this year.
"This is one we both needed," Suhr told USA Today, referring to herself and her husband and coach, Rick Suhr, whom she married Jan. 3. "Together, we won it."
Suhr is coming off an injury from last week. The injury and time off caused some doubt that she could regain the form to compete with the world's best.
"It's nice to come back and establish that I can still win a pole vault," she told USA Today.
