Is the fact Forestville has a water emergency news any more?
Stubborn village officials, who refuse to be part of a water district, basically continue to disrupt the lives of their residents by attempting to keep their antiquated system going. Despite a lack of rain over this summer, it is the leaking pipes of the more than 115-year-old system that are dooming the village water users.
Chautauqua County is helping the village with the water emergency, but that probably is not the best answer. Through that assistance, the county is an enabler of the village continuing its misguided ways.
Village residents, who are paying increased water rates, need to call for an end this all-too-often problem. Tell your elected officials that changes to the water system - including regional delivery - will help the village swim, not sink.
