Sheffield man dies in late-night crash
August 19, 2010
A Sheffield man was killed in a one-vehicle accident late Tuesday night on Rt. 666 outside of Barnes.
According to Sheffield police officer Dan Madigan, Randall S. Wyman, 21, lost control of his Chevrolet Camaro rounding a curve in the road heading toward Barnes around 10:55 p.m.
Wyman’s vehicle crossed both lanes and hit a concrete culvert and traveled down an embankment for approximately 100 feet before going airborne and landing back in the roadway.
Wyman, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to police, was ejected from the vehicle.
Warren County Coroner Jerry Borden declared Wyman dead at the scene.
“There’s no doubt that a high rate of speed was definitely a major factor here,” Madigan said.
Madigan said an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
