Pennsylvania Avenue milling begins Tuesday

Pennsylvania Avenue between Hickory and Liberty Streets will be closed to traffic on Tuesday as the last major portion of phase one of the Streetscape Project gets underway. “They are going to start milling Pennsylvania Ave. on Tuesday,” said GRO-Warren executive director Chris Cheronis. “It’s not an all-day thing, but it’s going to be loud.” The milling of the avenue’s street surface will be followed by paving. “This is the last thing they do, other than the touch-ups and things like that,” Cheronis said. “This is the last of the big stuff.” Paving work is set to begin on Wednesday, Cheronis said. “The next two weeks will strictly be for paving and finishing up the sidewalks.” Cheronis said that Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed to traffic for “a couple of weeks.” “I believe it will be open, though, on the weekends,” Cheronis added. She noted temporary parking is now available on the north side of Pennsylvania Ave. from the intersection of Second Ave. to HIckory St.
