‘Freedom Walk’ to be held on Sept. 11

September 7, 2010
By Lydia COTTRELL
The Salvation Army is preparing to help keep needy people warm this winter. Beginning Sept. 13 and running until Sept. 17, the organization will be accepting applications for Project Bundle-Up 2010 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the citadel located at 311 Beech St. Project Bundle-up assists qualifying children, ages 18 and under, and seniors, ages 62 and over, with new winter outerwear for the season. Individuals may receive assistance through the program once every two years. Those who were beneficiaries of the Project Bundle-Up in 2009 are not eligible for this year’s program. To participate, applicants must provide proof of monthly income and expenses, and verification of children. According to Salvation Army personnel, the project is partially funded by the Pittsburgh WTAE-TV Bundle-Up Auction in which the “Weekend in Warren” golf package is sponsored by the Horton House, Cable Hollow Golf Course, Conewango Valley Golf Course, JacksonValley Golf Course, Holiday and the Healing Vessel. Anyone wishing to support the Project Bundle-Up program financially, may send donations to the Salvation Army, 311 Beech St., Warren, Pa. 16365, and designate the gift for the program. To schedule an appointment for application or obtain more information, call 723-8950.
