Where’s Tina?

Sugar Grove Twp. family distraught as niece runs away

September 10, 2010
Cindy Gregory has barely slept since her niece, Tina M. Allen, ran away from home on Aug. 6. The 17-year-old was last seen by Cindy, her legal guardian, on the night of Aug. 5 in their Sugar Grove Township home. “I saw her before I went to bed and by time my daughter came home from work, she was gone,” Cindy recalled. “She climbed out the window.” Cindy gained guardianship of Tina following the death of the teen’s mother. Tina had lived with her grandmother in Virginia before moving in with Cindy and her family. The family believes Tina may have left with an acquaintance they describe as an “older man” approximately 35 years old. Tina’s disappearance has taken a toll on the family. Cindy’s daughter, Darlene Gregory, is distraught. “I always looked at her as a little sister,” she said. “She’s put this family through hell and back.” According to the Cindy, various people said they have seen Tina in the Sugar Grove area while others report other rumors. “We’ve been told she went to the Frewsburg (N.Y.) area with him. I’ve been told she went back to Virginia,” she said. The hardest part for Cindy and her family is the uncertainty. “We don’t know where she is, if she’s being held against her will or if she’s hurt,” Darlene said. Through her tears, Cindy said, “She just walked away for no reason...There’s nothing I can do. I love her to death and not knowing where she’s at and what she’s doing is killing me.” Tina is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and115 pounds with mid-shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tina Allen is urged to call Warren-based state police at 728-3600. Anyone with information can also call Cindy Gregory at 688-8264.
