Nicholas and Kristen Pierce

Fredonia native Nicholas Pierce and Kristen Tippett of North Carolina were married at the Sheraton Hotel Chapel Hill, N.C., on Aug. 7, 2010 in a 4 p.m. double-ring ceremony. Mitch Pierce, uncle of the groom, officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Kathryn and Larry Harville, and Stephen and Brenda Tippett, all of North Carolina. Pierce is the son of Fredonia natives Beth and George Pierce, and the grandson of Patricia Logan and the late George Logan of Fredonia and Majorie Pierce and the late Howard Pierce of Portland.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a satin side-drape, A-line gown with beaded metallic embroidered lace, lace-up back and split back, with lace appliques and a chapel train. She carried roses, gerber daisies and hydrangea.

The maid of honor was Lindsey Albright of Cary, N.C., friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Liz Ward of Greenville, N.C.; Andrea Pierce of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Melissa Dubeau of Charlotte, N.C. The flower girls were Ava Pierce and Sophia Rodriquez.

The best man was Gregory Lucier of Raleigh, N.C., friend of the groom. The groomsmen were James Rosenman of Boston, Mass.; George Aaron Pierce, brother of the groom, of Colorado Springs; and Adam Pierce, brother of the groom, of Chapel Hill. The ring bearer was George Logan Pierce, nephew of the groom.

Both the bride and groom attended and graduated from North Carolina State University. The groom works as a structural engineer at the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the bride is an environmental engineer at URS Corporation.

The couple hosted a reception at the American Legion Post 6 in Chapel Hill.

They will honeymoon somewhere warm at a later date.
