SILVER CREEK - A Blessing of the Animals will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 11 Porter Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m., weather permitting. Zion is located at the corner of Porter and Adams. The service will take place outdoors in the vacant lot next to the church building.

All pets and their humans are welcome, but owners must take appropriate measures to keep their pet safe and calm, including leashes, cages and crates when appropriate. Those attending are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs for seating or use the church's folding chairs. The service will be brief and a freewill offering will be collected for the Lakeshore Humane Society.

This service and offering to the community is part of Zion's 120th anniversary celebration, which will culminate on Sunday, Oct. 31 with a worship service at 10 am and a hot buffet luncheon afterwards. For more information on the celebration worship or to reserve space at the luncheon, call the church at 934-4742 or Sandy Manos, congregational president, at 934-2056.
