Betty (Maybelle M.) Moffett, 90, died Saturday (Oct. 16, 2010) at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk after a long illness.
Born Oct. 25, 1919 in Dunkirk, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Iva (Carpenter) Bullock.
Mrs. Moffett was a 25-year employee of Brooks Memorial Hospital, first as a switchboard operator and then as an admissions clerk. Prior to that, she worked for Ludes Bros. Florist as a floral designer.
She was a member of the Friendly 36 Club, D & F Grandmothers Club, Web.- Chautauqua Club, Fredonia Share and Care, the Dunkirk Club and the Salvation Army Auxiliary.
Betty treasured visits with grandchildren, family and friends. She was known for her kindness and concern for others. Through the years, she wrote many cards and letters to family and friends, always lovingly embellished with "stickers."
She will be truly missed.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Richard) Straight of Fredonia, NY; three grandchildren, Lauri (Eric) Zebracki of Fredonia, NY, Jody Scott of Williamsport, Pa., and Andrew (Cathy) Straight of Cassadaga, NY; great-grandchildren Sam Scott of Williamsport, Meredith Zebracki of Fredonia, NY and Tyler Grisanti of Forestville, NY; one sister, Marian J. Scott of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Bert Bullock of Fredonia, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Moffett, who died in 1988; and two brothers, Arthur and Robert Bullock.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Fredonia, New York.
