Frank J. Klimaszewski, 93, of Dunkirk, died Sun-day afternoon, October 17, 2010, at the Chautauqua County Home.
He was born January 15, 1917, in Dunkirk, son of the late Frank and Lillian (Wierzynski) Klimaszewski.
A veteran of WWII from 1942-46, serving with the US Army Air Corps, he received the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
He retired from Excelco in Silver Creek where he worked as a Machinist, and at one time worked at the former ALCO Plant in Dunkirk.
Frank enjoyed the time he had to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughter Rose Pirowski of Fredonia; grandchildren Karen (Steve) Przybycien of Fredonia, Michael (Lisa) Pirowski of Valdosta, GA, Thomas (Angela) Pirowski of Prattsburgh, NY; great-grandchildren Lauren and Jonathan; sisters-in-law Terry Mazur and Ronnie Ginley both of Dunkirk; nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors also survive.
Preceded in addition to his parents by his wife Shirley (Mazur) Klimaszewski who died September 29, 2006; sister Nora Nowicki; brother Anthony Klimaszewski and several step-brothers and step-sisters.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock in BMA Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.
