Cassadaga discusses emergency procedures

November 6, 2010
By JOAN JOSEPHSON OBSERVER Staff Writer

CASSADAGA - Trustee Rudy Abersold introduced a resolution Wednesday designed "to better assist Cassadaga residents with Public Works and Water Department issues that arise."

The village board adopted the resolution that calls for all public works concerns to be brought to Public Works chairman Trustee Jeff Frick or Mayor LeeAnn Lazarony.

Frick can be reached at 595-3548. The mayor can be reached at 785-3007.

Any water department requests are to be made to water department chairman Abersold who can be reached at 595-3271 and also may be made to the mayor.

These village officials will then bring these concerns to the full board for consideration.

If any emergency situation arises, Public Works Superintendent Tom Fetter, any employee or public official should be contacted.

"These changes are necessary for the board of trustees and the public works to better serve the needs of our residents and for the board to better understand the daily activities of the public works department," Abersold said.

Since the board makeup will be changing this coming year with Trustee Frick not running for reelection, this resolution remains in effect until March 31, 2011.

In other business, project engineer Bob Armstrong provided an update on the village's water development.

The High Street water line replacement is progressing and the new water storage tank at the top of High Street is being prepared for installation.

Armstrong said the state is permitting the directional drilling of the new Bard Road water line under Route 60; the Maple Avenue water line replacement plans are being forwarded to the Chautauqua County Health Department for approval and drilling of the new water well on village-owned property behind Cassadaga Elementary School should begin in January.
