Wilson Farms and Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels will kick-off the seventh annual "Step Up to the Plate" fundraising campaign to support the elderly and disabled served by Meals on Wheels programs throughout New York.
The fundraising campaign which began Oct. 31 and will end Nov. 29 is being promoted in all Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Wilson Farms XPress locations throughout New York state. Customers can participate by purchasing a Meals on Wheels "plate" for a $1 donation. The purchased "plate" which will include the name of each donor, will then be displayed in that store.
The campaign has raised more than $185,000 for Meals on Wheels programs since 2004. Each dollar raised in the participating store will be donated to the nearest Meals on Wheels organization to directly benefit residents in that community.
"We encourage community members to take part in this campaign by visiting our local Wilson Farms store which is located on Bennett Road across from the Wal-Mart entrance," said Joan Houck, director of Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels. "In doing so, they will help ensure that those receiving home-delivered meals continue to be served."
"Wilson Farms is proud to partner with Meals on Wheels," said CEO and President of Wilson Farms, Inc., Paula Nanula. "We know that through the generosity of our customers we can once again make this 'Step Up to the Plate' campaign a great success."
