Hornets finish with a perfect 44-0 mark

JAMESTOWN - The Forestville Hornets boys' bowling team made league history at the Chautauqua County Interscholastic Bowling League Division 2 Position Round Saturday at the Jamestown Bowling Company as they finished the season with a perfect record.

The Hornets won all four games against the Brocton Bulldogs to bring their record to an astounding 44-0 on the season and solidify their spot in Western New York high school sports history as no team has ever accomplished the feat. Brocton finished in second place in the boys' final league standings at 30-14 followed by Frewsburg (28-16), Randolph (14-30), Clymer (9-35) and Chautauqua Lake (7-37).

In their match against each other, Forestville's linescore read 952-925-877-2,754 while Brocton had a 829-719-802-2,350 linescore. Bowling well for the Hornets, Dakota Griewisch rolled a 247-214-657, Corey Forbes finished with a 231-576, Spenser Johnson recorded a 560 series and Mike Franklin had a 517 series.

For the Bulldogs, John Nickerson bowled a 213-555 and Patrick Bigelow had a 213 game.

In the match between the Randolph Cardinals and the Frewsburg Bears, Frewsburg took the contest, 3-1, with a linescore of 797-843-727-2,367 to Randolph's 753-666-754-2,173. The Bears' high bowler was Nick Reale with a 516 series while Cardinal Mason Burch rolled a 502 series.

The Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds split their match, 2-2, with the Clymer Pirates. The Thunderbirds won the first two games with a linescore of 541-598-535-1,674 while the Pirates took the final game and had the higher overall score as their linescore read 523-579-639-1,741. Justin Parment was Chautauqua Lake's top bowler, recording a 413 series, and Erik Lied led the way for Clymer with his 421 series.

In the girls' CCIBL Division 2 Position Round, the Lady Cardinals finished in first place after a 3-1 win in their match against the Lady Hornets. Randolph ended the season with a 32-4 record followed by Forestville at 28-8, Frewsburg (17-19), Clymer (8-28) and Chautauqua Lake (7-29).

In their match to determine first place in the league, the Lady Cardinals' finished with a linescore which read 642-630-554-1,826 while the Lady Hornets managed a linescore of 600-553-584-1,737.

Randolph was led by Ashley Young's 203-183-164-550 performance while Tyler Henderson helped out with a 180-169 and Maureen Kibbe chipped in with a 439 series.

Bowling well for Forestville, Emily Dillenburg rolled a 232-203-199-634 and Sarah Pleva recorded a 446 series.

The Bears swept the Lady Pirates, 4-0, as Frewsburg compiled a linescore of 458-558-502-1,518 to Clymer's linescore of 378-499-419-1,394. Kaylee Marsh bowled a 169-475 for the Bears and Lady Pirate Jenelle Ingalls rolled a 152-373.

The Lady Thunderbirds bowled unopposed and recorded a linescore that read 452-504-426-1,382 for four easy wins. Heather Sullivan led the way with a 205-190-540.
