DELHI - In her fifth trip to the New York State High School Federation Girls Golf Championship, Fredonia's Jennifer Ringler shot an 84 at SUNY Delhi on Saturday.
The score puts Ringler in a tie for 27th place and she is 10 strokes behind the leader and two strokes out of a Top 20 finish entering today's action.
In her past four trips to the state meet, Ringler has always done better on the second day and coach Alex Conti believes a Top 10 finish is a strong possibility.
"She is worthy of being a Top 10 player," Conti said. "I hope she medals. If she comes in and shoots her game, she is fine."
Ringler shot a 44 on the first nine and a 40 on the second nine. She finished with two birdies and hit par seven times.
Meanwhile, Mackenzie Crist had a 49 on the front nine and a 47 on the back nine Saturday for a 96. She came away with five pars. Megan Bleck shot a 113 and nailed par three times.
"I'm real pleased with all three," Conti noted. "They are dong better than last year and that's what we are looking for."
Section 6 is in fifth place with a 623 as Section 5 is in first place with a 558.
Play resumes today at 8:30 a.m.
