COLLINS - The next meeting for the Collins Center Seniors will be Monday, July 25 at the Gowanda American Legion Pavilion for a picnic lunch. Members are reminded to call Norma Pine at 532-9098 if you are planning to attend the meeting as hot dogs will be furnished.
Passengers for the Tuesday, July 26 trip to the Seneca Allegany Casino are ask to park in the Penny Saver, Toy Store parking lot on Center Street and the parameter of the adjoining parking lot so we do not take up all of Gabels' customer parking. The motor coach will depart at 10 a.m.
Seats are available for the Wine & Rose, Castle & Cruise trip Thursday, Aug. 18. It includes a visit to Belhurst Castle and Winery including a luncheon buffet and a cruise on Seneca Lake aboard Rose Lummis a 1953 Mississippi River Boat.
Seats are available for the Black Hills of South Dakota trip Sept. 6-15. The transportation will be a full size motor coach with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out.
Salute to the Crooners is Wednesday, Sept. 21 when the group is off to the Station Dinner Theater in Erie, Pa. for a magical show featuring the music of the greatest crooners of all time. This amazing show is a tribute to renowned artist such as Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and Frank Sanatra. Trip includes dinner and show as well as a stop at Presque Isle Casino. 50-Plus Seniors
Participants on the 50-Plus Senior extended fall trip to Wildwood N.J. are asked to attend a coffee get-together on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. at L. K. Painter Community Center, Main Street, Collins.
It is important that all attend as we shall be distributing itineraries, baggage and name tags and collecting information regard emergency contacts and any physical or medical problems that need attention. If unable to attend please notify Joan Byrne, 532-2507, or send a substitute, perhaps a roommate, who will be able to provide the information needed. This will be the only pre-trip meeting scheduled and information will not be mailed.
The Roger Williams Concert at the Riviera Theater, North Tonawanda, on Tuesday, Dec. 13 is a go and a $20 deposit is now due from those who have made reservations. Checks payable to Town of Collins are to be sent to Collins Town Hall, attention Joan Byrne, P. O. Box 420, Collins NY 14034.
Openings are available with $20 deposit required at sign up. Entire cost for the trip is $55 for residents of the towns of Collins, Perrysburg and Persia and $57 for all others. Cost includes luncheon, matinee concert and school bus transportation. Balance will be due Oct. 20.
Openings are still available for the Barbershop Harmony Parade at Chautauqua Institution on Sunday, August 21. Cost is $10 and $12 due with reservations and will be refunded if insufficient interest. Final day for reservations is Aug. 15. Thirty are needed to go and early reservations are appreciated.
Fliers and sign-up sheets for senior trips are available on Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the senior room. All trip payments must be made to Town of Collins and sent to the Collins Town Hall, attention Joan Byrne, P.O. Box 420, Collins NY 14034.
Openings are still available for the Tuesday, Aug. 30 AARP Driving Course. Pre-registration is required and can only be made by calling Byrne, 532-2507. Cost is $12 if an AARP member or $14 if not. Please have AARP membership cards available when calling. Course starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. with 45 minute lunch break. Class is in the center's Lounge Room located in the rear of the building. Park in the back parking lot.
A $2.50 lunch, payable the day of the class, is offered by the senior program with reservations to be made at registration. Driving Course checks, must be made payable to AARP and sent to Collins Town Hall, attention AARP, P.O. Box 420, Collins NY 14034. The next AARP Course at the center will be on Oct. 25.
Wednesday senior activities for the week are Quilting with Florence, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Community Room, Collins Public Library, and Open Crafts with Pat Tucker, 1 p.m., senior room, L. K. Painter Community Center.
