Leroy F. "Lee" Fox, 72, of Brocton, NY, died on Sept. 29, 2011 at Brooks Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Lee was born on May 21, 1939 in Olean to the late Rex and Frances (Milks) Fox.
He was a U.S. Military veteran, serving with the U.S. Army from July 14, 1958 until July 14, 1961.

After basic training, Lee was assigned to Campbell Army Airfield in Fort Campbell, Ky. Later, he was transferred to Ft. Lee, Va., where he trained as a petroleum specialist in charge of the flight line and refueling aircrafts. After 31 months, he was transferred
into the National Guard where he was assigned to the NYSNG 127th Armored where he remained until he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. E-5 in July 1964.
Lee served on the Dunkirk Police Force from June 2, 1968 until July 4, 1988 as a patrolman and was dis-tinguished as an expert marksman. He retired from the DPD as a desk sergeant. Lee went on the Fredonia Police Department and continued to serve his community as a dispatcher from
Oct. 17, 1990 until Jan. 1, 1998. After retirement, Lee moved to Florida and extended his law enforcement career as a Border Patrol Officer for two years. Lee was a member of the Police Benevolent Association, the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Police Conference on New York.
His hobbies included his Harley, horses, hunting, karaoke and target shooting. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies, the outdoors, a good cup of coffee and had an insatiable sweet tooth. Lee had a love for animals and had many pets over the years, his most recent being his beloved dog, "Doc."
He is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Eileen Baldridge; his son Layne (Peggy) Fox; daughter Lynette Fox; daughter-in-law Kym Fox
and Kimberly, Shannon and John (Tricia) Baldridge; eight grandchildren, Myrrhynda Nati, Jenni, Mathew, Heather, Christian, Brandyn, Lindsey and
Austyn Fox; two step-grandchildren, Robert and
Christopher Lefave; one great-grandchild, Nataleigh Fox; one sister, Eileen (Fox) Furness and Cliff (Carol) Carey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Frances Fox; his sister, Norma (Dan) Larson; his brother-in-law, Ed Furness; and his son, Leroy "Skip" Fox.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Morse Funeral Home in Brocton and will be officiated by the Rev. Morrison.
Military Services will be conducted by the John W. Dill Brocton American Le-gion Post 434. Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday Oct. 2, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made in his name to the Police
