OBSERVER Staff Report

SILVER CREEK - On Saturday at 1 p.m., a benefit will be held at Willow Creek Winery at 2627 Chapin Rd. to celebrate the life of the late Nate Stevens. A $20 ticket includes a pig roast, picnic food, live entertainment, and tent camping. Children under 12 are admitted free and can enjoy a Kids' Korner with games and animals to see. Proceeds from the event will benefit Stevens' children, Louisa and Vivienne.

Because of Nate, a married mother of one has a working kidney, as does a 15-year-old girl. A 60-year-old father of three has a liver that has improved his life. A psychologist and father has a heart that will enable him to continue to help others. Two people have received the gift of sight. Donated tissue may improve the lives of up to 40 people. These are the last gifts of Nate who lost his life in an ATV accident in May.

His life will be celebrated at a fundraiser with a benefit for his children.

Nate spent most of his 39 years in building and remodeling, but he did not limit himself to wood, brick and shingles. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and a sympathetic ear to those with a burden that was hard to bear alone. He built more with love for those around him than he did with a hammer and nails.

This benefit will provide information about organ donation provided by the Upstate New York Transplant Association as well as information about helmet safety.

Sean Patrick McGraw, Gina V with Side Effect, Fallen Union, and Imoral will provide entertainment. There will also be an antique tractor show, hot rods and show cars, karaoke, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and a motorcycle run meeting at the winery at 11 a.m. and departing at noon.

Nate's family is deeply touched by how the community has come together to make this event possible and wishes to thank all the volunteers and donors for the love they have expressed in supporting this benefit.
