Collins Library to hold country music concert

COLLINS - The Collins Public Library will feature a concert by Paul Zittel and Pure Country on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. Come for some "Country Music with Hometown Appeal." The concert will take place in the main library room of the town of Collins Public Library, located at 2341 Main Street (Route 39) in Collins.

The Paul Zittel and Pure Country Band has been together for many years and is a recognized country music group in Western New York. Paul Zittel, lead guitarist, and Dan Gabel, Bass guitar player, are from the Collins area. Ken Petersen, steel guitar player, and Mike Papaj, drummer, are from the Tonawanda area. Tim Kruger, a guitar student from the Lawtons area, will also be with the band during a portion of the show.

They have had the privilege to open shows for some of Nashvile's greatest performers during their tours in Western New York: Brad Paisley and George Jones (Melody Fair), Ricky Skaggs (LaSalle Park), and Charlie Daniels and Aaron Tippin (Cattaraugus County Fair). In addition, the band is a yearly participant in the Slade Park Music Series at the Erie County Fair, and participates in several Music in the Park series in the Southtowns, including Springville and Gowanda.

The Friends of the Collins Public Library sponsors the monthly concert series. The concerts are free and open to the public, although free will donations are gratefully accepted. Funding is also provided by Gabel's IBA; Gowanda Area Federal Credit Union; Gowanda Ford; Carrier Coach of Gowanda; Gernatt Family of Companies; and Steve Baldo Chevrolet Buick Cadillac, Inc.
