Awakening Faith Program to begin in November

October 29, 2011
The OBSERVER

A six-session Catholic-based series will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 16, and run through Wednesday, Dec. 21. It will be held in the Northern Chautauqua Catholic School building in the Resource Room which is located on the first floor. The school building is located in Dunkirk on the corner of Fourth Street and Washington Avenue. Use the front doors for entrance.

The name of this series is called "Awakening Faith" and this is an open invitation to all. The six weekly sessions begin each Wednesday at 7 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m. They include topics which are of personal interest to many people today such as "Spirituality, What's the Buzz?" "Who is Jesus?" "The Church and Me," "Do We Need the Spirit?" and more.

This program developed by the Paulist National Catholic Evangelization Association is being hosted by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish with team members from the parishes of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Anthony and Blessed Mary Angela. Parish affiliation is not a requirement for attendance and there is no fee for participants.

"Awakening Faith" is a welcoming way to reacquaint or renew faith and is for people of all ages who wish to continue spiritual growth. The material used is based on the U.S. Catholic Catechism for Adults as a source of reference. Follow-up opportunities will be made available for participants who wish to join small sharing groups, Bible study, social action involvement, prayer groups, or any other options that come about from the six-week sessions. There will also be follow-up sessions for those interested in these timely topics of the day, such as "Money and the Treadmill of Life," "Is Faith Possible Today in Our World?" "Marriage, Divorce and Annulment" and "Searching for Love."

Call for more information and watch this paper's community calendar for reminders of days, times and topics.

If interested in attending the sessions or certain ones in particular, and want more information, call Wendy at 366-3827 Monday through Wednesday, or Marsha at 366-4268 and they will be glad to answer any question concerning this series. Registration is not necessary, but those who care to register their intent to attend, may do so.

There will be a social following each session along with refreshments.
