Sheridan church to hold Blue Christmas service

December 10, 2011
The OBSERVER

SHERIDAN - Sheridan United Methodist Church will hold its Blue Christmas service on Sunday, focusing on those who have experienced loss during the past year, and find the joyful Christmas season difficult. The sermon will be "A Stable Christmas."

Mary never expected to give birth to her first child in a dirty stable. Everyone has "stable experiences" where they feel disappointment, loss and grief. This service aims to bring comfort to those who have experienced loss, so they can find joy even in the midst of sadness that at times seems overwhelming. All are invited to this service, which begins at 10:30 a.m.

Everyone is always welcome at Sheridan UMC. Sunday worship service, led by Pastor Molly T. Golando and Associate Pastor David Watson, begins at 10:30 a.m. Children are welcome at the service and a staffed nursery is available. The church has easy handicapped accessibility. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m. Mid-week Bible study/prayer meeting is held each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 2679 Route 20 in Sheridan. Call 672-2048 for information.
