Christmas play to be presented
The Lake Shore Community Chapel and Faith Baptist Church will meet together for worship this Sunday evening. The churches will be treated to a Christmas play presented by the youth and written and directed by the Rev. Raughnsen Payne entitled "Bethlehem and Back."
The churches will enjoy fellowship and refreshments following the play. The community is welcome to celebrate this special Christmas program at Lake Shore Community Chapel, on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at 4552 W. Main Road, Fredonia. For more information, call 679-4252.
Recital series continues
The third Marsh Memorial Advent recital will be held on Wednesday at the First United Presbyterian Church, 19 W. Fourth St., at noon. The Marsh recitals are free public concerts during the lunch hour. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch and enjoy the church's complimentary coffee.
Wednesday's concert features James Judd, a senior vocal performance and music major at SUNY Fredonia. He has been extensively involved in the Hillman Opera. He played Fernando in "Cosi fan tutte" and Prologue in "Turn of the Screw" with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra. Aside from opera, Judd has directed the Fredonia Vocal Jazz ensemble. He is an important part of the First United Presbyterian Church Sunday evening service and has performed at past Marsh Advent and Lenten recitals.
'Bethlehem' benefit concert held Sunday
BROCTON - A benefit concert sponsored by Tri-Church, "Lead Me Back to Bethlehem," will be held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The concert will feature the Tri-Church Community Choir, directed by Lucy Andrus; Kathy Boberg, accompanist; the Tri-Church Bell Choir, directed by Pauline Hardenburg; and Jamie Ensign, saxophone.
The concert will be presented at Tri-Church, East Main Street, Brocton. There will be a free will offering for community giving.
Churches to join together for Christmas
The Rev. McGuffie will preside at candlelight communion services for both churches of the parish. The service at Zion Lutheran in Silver Creek will be held at 7:30 p.m. (note the time change) and the service at Grace Lutheran in Dunkirk will be held at the usual 9:30 p.m. time. Note that there will be no regular service at either church on Sunday, Dec. 25. All are welcome to join in for the traditional service of Lessons and Carols as parishioners begin the new year together on Jan.1. The service times will be the regular worship times at both churches.
'Christmas Fest' set for Sunday
SHERIDAN - On Sunday at 6:30 p.m., the Sheridan United Methodist Church will hold a "Christmas Fest" with music and stories of Christmas. Featured will be the Sheridan Church Choir performing "Do You Hear What I Hear," Wendy Gens singing "Percy the Puny Poinsettia" accompanying herself on the accordion, Dave Golando with a jazz arrangement of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," Janice Delcamp singing "Rose of Bethlehem," and a piano-organ duet of "What Child is This" performed by Jeannine VanWey and Eileen Gabel. There will be other musical numbers, stories and fun! The evening will conclude with a Christmas cookie reception, hosted by the United Methodist Women. All are invited to ring in Christmas, and welcome Jesus with praise and sounds of joy.
