Mindy DeAnn Hendren and John Dennis Allenbrand were united in marriage on Oct. 27, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the historic train station in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Pastor Gil Wise of Solid Rock United Methodist Church officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of William Christopher and Beverly Hendren of Hiddenite, N.C.. She is the granddaughter of Belva and Patsy Bentley of Taylorsville, N.C. The groom is the son of Dennis and Susan Allenbrand of Sinclairville.
On their one-year anniversary, Oct. 27, 2011, John proposed to Mindy at her school. Her students held signs that said "Will You Marry Me?" and John proposed to Mindy on one knee in front of her students, co-workers, and family when she walked into her classroom.

The double-ring ceremony was held later that evening beside a train station in Southern Pines. Following the ceremony, John took Mindy to the same restaurant where they went on their first date.
The bride is a 2008 graduate of Western Carolina University, where she received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She is currently a second-grade teacher at Upchurch Elementary School in Raeford, N.C.
The groom is currently serving in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Infantry Team Leader in the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg.
Mr. and Mrs. John Allenbrand reside in Spring Lake, N.C.
