GOWANDA - October Students of the Month at Gowanda High School are as follows:
Bryanna Vert Grade 9, Mathematics
Mrs. Enders nominated Bryanna for this award because she completes every assignment quickly and accurately. She is a motivator and positive influence to the entire class. Bryanna watches her cousins and attends volleyball games often. She wants to go to college to get a degree in early childhood education so she can teach at a daycare center. She wants people to know that she is good at babysitting.
Casey Peglowski Grade 9, Science
Ms. King nominated Casey because she always gets her work done on time and gives her best effort. She volunteers during class discussions and is willing to help classmates when they need it. Casey hopes to go to college and study deaf education because she has always been interested in sign language. She wants people to know that her family, her friends and her faith are important to her.
Meg Lulas Grade 10, Business
Mr. Bugenhagen nominated Meghan because she is an exemplary student in many ways. She is always eager to learn and actively participates throughout class. She is a dedicated student who makes efficient use of her time and will always go out of her way to help others. It is her dependability and kindness to others that leave him no regret in selecting Meghan for student of the month for business. Meg bowls, participates in track and is in the youth group for her church. After high school she wants to be an English teacher. She has always wanted to be a teacher. She would like people to know that one of her favorite things to do is go four-wheeling with her dad.
Brennan Geiger Grade 10, Health
Mr. Bruening nominated Brennan because he works hard, and participates in class with a higher degree of maturity than most students his age. Brennan participates in football and basketball. After school he hopes to go to a great college to further his career. He wants people to know that if someone is having a bad day and need someone to talk to, he is the one to listen and help to try and make the day better.
Kevin Fredrickson Grade 11, The Arts
Mr. Swanson nominated Kevin because of his positive attitude and leadership. Kevin attends every band event and is an officer for the ensemble. In addition to being a wonderful section leader for the trombones, Kevin tackles extra work for the group to help things run smoothly - always with an extreme sense of enthusiasm. Kevin participates in cross country, wrestling and track. After high school, he hopes to attend college and study computer programming or get a degree teaching chemistry. He would like people to know that math and science are his favorite two classes.
Cayleigh Pracht Grade 11, LOTE
Mrs. Dempsey nominated Cayleigh because she loves all things Spanish and speaks the language whenever possible. She even practices with friends on Facebook. Cayleigh's enthusiasm and dedication are what make her an excellent Spanish student. Cayleigh participates in track, cross country, musicals, plays, the Thespian Society, GFMC Youth Group, Chamber Choir and the Worship Team. After high school, she hopes to be a missionary in Latin America. She feels that God can put her talents to great use for His glory. She would like people to know that when people see the positives in her it is because God is in her and working though her.
Ken Leach Grade 12, ELA
Ms. Jordan nominated Ken because he always completes his work in a timely and has a respectful manner. He is a truly genuine individual who works well with all his classmates. His artwork, which corresponds to his English projects, always inspires his fellow classmates and receives admiration by numerous students. After high school, Ken hopes to get a job in the art field and draw comics. He wants people to know that he can draw well and that he's an all right guy.
Jamie Prime Grade 12, Social Studies
Mr. Bohn nominated Jamie because she has a 97 percent average, excellent comportment and excellent attendance. Mr. Bohn says that she is a positive influence in the classroom. Jamie plans to go to college for psychology and eventually become a teen counselor. She would like people to know that she is very open-minded and loves being introduced to new things.
